Fortran Forum

The Fortran Forum is a newsletter published by the Special Interest Group in Programming Languages (SIGPLan) of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). It is published three times per year and addresses the Fortran language, its uses, profitability, standardization, further evolution, and the implementation of Fortran processors.

Membership in ACM or SIGPLan is not necessary to subscribe to the Fortran Forum.

Ian Chivers is the current editor.

History

The Fortran Forum was founded by Loren P. Meissner. Originally called the “ForTec Forum” (ForTec was short for the Fortran Technical Committee), the first issue appeared in July 1982. The name was changed to “Fortran Forum” in December, 1984.
